IDEOLOGY

Representative institutions no longer represent voters. Instead, they have been short-circuited, steadily corrupted by an institutionalized system of bribery that renders them responsive to powerful interest groups whose constituencies are the major corporations and wealthiest Americans.

This article clearly stating that we live in a country where the rich will use their wealth to be mobile in society and used their power to be fluid in society.

In my view the rich and the famous gets away with a lot of unjust action because we live in a society where the small amount of people are wealthy but are powerful.  Minority voices are not heard.  our country is built on wealth and power.  Its a country that is geared towards the wealthy and corruption.

INTEREST GROUPS

"Demonstrations and boycotts can be another way of influencing policy. This tactic is probably most famous for being used during the early civil movements like the Montgomery Bus Boycott organized by Martin Luther King Jr."

This paragraph illustrate the importance of demonstration and boycott.   It signify the courage and perseverance of how far people especially people of color would go to make their voices be heard.  The civil right movement especial use this strategy to make their voices heard.

I choose this paragraph  because I understand why Civil Movement stand behind such strategy.  When any one is treated unfairly and justice is not served a peaceful demenstastion and boycotting in order to let their voices be heard.  regarding the Civil Right Movement standing up to end segregation on buses where people of color no longer have to b seated at the rare of the bus.

PRESIDENCY

President JFK

"Kennedy represented to many, the kind of "New Americans" that were taking shape in a new United States, one that had now undoubtedly become a superpower that had tremendous influence across the world."

In summary to the paragraph Mr. Kennedy work was considered "New Americans" in a time when America was in a period of Civil War.  His determination was to be the voice for the minority.  In a dominate white racist society his goal to help the minorities which was African American was courageous.

His work or motive to help minorities had great impact.  Allowing minorities to be qualify for housing, health care, active in civil rights and the segregation in transportation is influential.  His assignation may be contributed to what he believed in and his action for his accomplishments.  Whenever a person rise above the norm or the truth they are shut down but that's a risk you should be willing to take, its a way of standing behind  your morals.

JUDICIARY

Supreme Court

"The Supreme Court (as the federalists intended) has tended to play a more conservative role in government, often siding with business interests against attempts to regulate commerce through legislation. However, in the public imagination the court is seen as a crucial part of the civil rights movement, as the institution which finally ended legal segregation in the nation. By looking at some of the most important cases to come through the Supreme Court we begin to understand better the dual role the court has played in American history."

what the article is indicating the power that the Supreme Court posses.  Even the president or congress passing a law or bill weather it may unconstitutional or constitution  the Supreme Court will finalized such action.

In my opinion for the Supreme court to have a sole business purpose and to over rule and end civil right movement show its great impact.  It make the minority which is considered African American to feel a sense a relief.  For the court to observed injustice and inequality and over-ruled for justice. With its intervention great power was shown.

CONGRESS

"The House is supposed to be more democratic because since they represent smaller districts they are supposed to be more accountable to the people who represent those districts."

According to the passage the House of Representative represent the people and laws that that pertain to improve their well-being.  Having a representative for your state to better understand the struggle and everyday hardship and to get some type of aid and resources to make everyday situation more accessible.

My understanding of the sentence is that without the House of Representative most people voices and needs would be unheard which is one of the most important factor.  As a citizen you would like progress not only for yourself but also for your family and love one. You would also like someone that represent what your surrounding and country  needs in order for its progression.

EQUAL RIGHTS

"The idea of social rights then speaks to the idea that everyone is entitled as he says "to a certain standard of civilization" meaning that people are entitled to the things necessary for a healthy and productive life."

Marshall interruption of this paragraph is that as a citizen your entitle to live in a comfortable environment without the constant denial of what can make your existence comfortable and productive.

My understanding that as a citizen one should be entitle of certain level of education, voting and proper health car.  That no one should be denied any three because of his or her race, gender, education, health status and ethnicity.  Many years the black citizen have fought to abolish slavery, segregation in the public transportation and the right to vote. I felt it was criminal and unjust.

Citizenship and Social Class

Citizenship and Social Class

Marshall

"Citizenship is a status bestowed on those who are full members of a community.  All who possess he status are equal with respect to the rights and duties with which the status is endowed. There is no universal principle that determine what those rights and duties shall be, but societies in which citizenship is a developing institution create an image of an ideal citizenship against which achievement can be measured and towards which aspiration can be directed."

According to Marshall, during the early impact of citizenship and social class that as a citizen u have equal right and that society is the influence in whether your productive and resourceful.

In my opinion I agree to a certain extent that as  citizen we do have tremendous rights that make us as a people more freely and comfortable but at the same time with social inequalities it makes it a little harder for certain culture or group to achieve or attain their goals.

"CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE"

"CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE"

BY;HENY DAVID THOREAU

Practically speaking, the opponents to a reform in Massachusetts are not a hundred thousand politicians at the South, but a hundred thousand merchants and farmers here, who are more interested in commerce and agriculture than they are in humanity, and are not prepared to do justice to the slave and to Mexico, cost what it may.

What Mr. Henery is illustrating that the southerners main focus is on agriculture and the process of buying and selling with the force of labor of slaves and the harsh treatment towards Mexico.  Humanity and what it stands or is not moral.

my interpretation is that we live in a very hypocritical world where even though slavery is abolish,  the system in this country system is still segregated.  Minority and the treatment is still unacceptable. I agree that " civil disobedience" is not an implementations promoting violence but to advocate for what we as a community believes to be unjust and to represent the voice of the unheard, which in many cases are the minorities.

FEDERALISM

The Seventh Of March Speech

Daniel Webster

"That separation was brought about by differences of opinion upon this particular subject of slavery. I felt great concern, as that dispute went on, about the result. I was in hopes that the difference of opinion might be adjusted, because I looked upon that religious denomination as one of the great props of religion and morals throughou;t the whole country, from Maine to Georgia, and westward to our utmost boundary.

Mr. Webster wanted to implement a vicious act that with captured runaway slave.  He felt strongly with his view that other didn't support.  He felt strongly for the right and ownership of slave an entitlement that if they run they were strip away for a free trail.  That any government that didn't comply with this act will be fine.

In my word Mr.Webster is entitle to a freedom of speech but I strongly disagree with his proposal.  No government, institution or individuals are entitle to keep people of opposite race in captivity and to strip away their freedom because one  feel like your race is superior than the other.  As American everyone should be entitle to live their lives without being segregated or judge because of their race, social mobility, level of education or their financial status.

The Federalist No. 10

February, 27, 2015

The Utility of the Union as a Safeguard Against Domestic Faction and Insurrection;

No man is allowed to be Judge in his own cause, because his interest would certainly bias his judgement, and not improbably, corrupt his integrity with equal, nay with greater reason, a body of men are unfit to be both judges and parties at the same time; yet what are many of the most acts of legislation, but so many judicial determinations, not indeed concerning the rights of large body of citizens?and what are the different classes of legislators but advocates and parties to the causes which they determine? is a law proposed concerning private debts.

My interpretation of the author perception for this paragraph illustrate that each branch of authority  should have their own power structure and code of ethics not to rely solely on other branches.  Within the legislative responsibilities should not be equally divided among members.  The concern  should not be on an individual rather the concern of a larger group of people. They should be able to  protect their citizen rights.

Having three separate branches of government is essential it allows the power and responsibilities to  be divided; therefore the concern and power for the well being of people can be priority than the  interest of themselves.  Power and authority should be equally distributed for the well being of its people: in-order for trust to be reciprocated government must be able dispense trust in-order for their to be a balance in society.

THE AMERICAN POLITICAL SYSTEM

Bachrach and Baratz "Two Faces Of Power"

The sociologist found that power is 'highly centralized while political science conclude that 'their' communities power is 'widely diffused' (Bachrach and Baratz, pg.947).

" The hypothesis of the existences of a ruling elite can be strictly tested only if... there is a sample of cases involving key political decision in which the preference of hypothetical ruling elite run counter those of any likely other group that might be suggested" (bachrach and Baratz, pg.949).

My understanding towards that paragraph is when making decision whether political or social decision one should feel accepting to their input in decision process. They should feel included and not excluded. Power given to certain individual, group or authority figure can be misused and abuse.
